Warming up before the game begins

A good round of golf can be facilitated only with a great warm up. Warm-up is necessary to boost up the body for the strenuous game ahead.

Its importance:

Warm up exercises include all those exercises that enables you to gets you and your muscles ready for the game. Warm-up is very necessary to make the muscles elastic and flexible. This also prevents muscle related injuries. Warming up also reduces blood pressure, increases muscle temperature and improves blood flow to the heart. Warm-ups needs to be done before stretching, as cold muscles can quickly tear during stretching rounds.

Warming up:

Basically warm up exercises are of two types, one set of exercises are designed to increase blood circulation in the muscles. These exercises can be anything like brief walking exercises, squats, arm circles, head circles etc. the other set of exercises are designed for stretching the muscles. As far as possible, stretching should only be done after the basic warm up exercises are over. Stretching exercises include calf stretch, hip stretch, leg extensions; side bends etc. stretching should be done easily, gradually and slowly. If you experience any abnormal discomfort it is very necessary to stop the particular exercise immediately. Precautions should be taken during Warm up exercises, as any sprain or twist can affect your chances in the actual game. You may also need some amount of monitoring during these exercises if you are a beginner. A Brisk walk with long paces is therefore the most beneficial and safe exercise to do right before the game. During these exercises, it is also necessary to keep the body well hydrated. A sip of water now and then takes care of that. Another important aspect of warm up exercises is the time. Warm-ups should not be too short with just a couple of arm circles, nor should they be as long as an actual workout. Individual players can decide the length of time, based on their comfort level and availability of time. Older Players need to consult their physician before beginning any new exercise plan
