Visualize the path of the ball

Golf is a mental game. Apart from your skills you need to rely on your other mental functions like visualization, to correctly analyze your moves and the resulting outcome.

Visualization:

In golf, you can never fully predict the long-term course of the game. This unpredictability can take a toll on amateurs who master every skill in the book yet fail to achieve the desired results. Golf is not a mechanical game, instead, your insight matters a lot in every round you play. You cannot control certain important elements like the flight of the ball; instead, you can visualize the path of the ball and accordingly modify your swings and shots.

Getting started:

To visualize the path of the ball you first need to observe the field thoroughly. Take note of every corner as far as your eyes can travel. Noting hazards and other obstacles is especially useful here. Observation can also help you take and adjust your stance accurately. After observing, you can mentally plan out the course of your ball. Very likely, you may not have much time to meticulously plan out every movement of the ball. This is just as well, as, thinking too much can also affect your concentration negatively. Two things are very important while visualizing the path of your ball. They are focus and concentration. Your focus should be on the target, the distance and the area around the path that strictly maters in the path of the ball. The rest of the picture can be blocked or mentally tuned out. Concentration is another factor that you will need here. You need to avoid distractions; especially mental ones if you want to successfully visualize the path. You also need to read the field appropriately for the mental image to take shape. You need to frequently practice this technique to effectively use it in your game. Very soon you will have a sixth sense about the desired path of your ball. With practice and patience you can learn visualization thereby controlling and improving your game to quite an admirable extent.
