Understand the rules and regulation of the game

The rules and the regulations form the core of any game. Their role in golf is especially prominent. You need to be aware of all therules and regulations to play your game accurately and fairly

Rules and regulations:

The rules and regulations of the game have been established and internationally standardized by the joint efforts of the Royal and ancient golf club of St Andrews (RA) and United states golf association. (USGA). These rules are limited to united sates and Mexico. Other rules are established under the guidance of these two major bodies in Canada, under the maintenance of Royal Canadian Golf association. The rules can be modified or changed as specified in the rulebooks every four years. The main principle of all these rules is based on the concept of fairness. Rules and regulations are related to the style of play, use of equipments, golf course management, role of amateur etc. apart from basic rules; players also have to abide by golf etiquettes. players are required to understand all the rules to avoid any confusion and to play the game fairly in the available framework.

Advantages:

Rules and regulations are always considered to be cumbersome by many players. However, there are many advantages of understanding the ropes of the game. Firstly, rules provide you with a prominent set of guidelines that can be follow easily. This prevents confusion and enables you to shape your game properly. Your practice sessions become more effective as you have established standards and criteria to meet. This can serve as a motivational factor in itself. Players are also less vulnerable to injustice as the established rules are strictly equal to all. These rules also help exercise control on the behaviour of the players. The reputation of golf as a gentleman’s game is maintained and generally upheld. This also promotes healthy competition and you can obtain friends rather than opponents. Rules enable you to be technically clear and sound. Thus, by understanding the rules, you can enhance your skills, lower your handicap and consequently improve your game.
