Golf Tips

Avoid distractions while playing

Golf requires concentration and strong mental framework. You need to avoid innumerable distractions, in order to maintain consistency in the game.

Distractions:

Distractions can be both physical and mental. Physical distractions include all those factors, which you can see. For example, glare of the sun; movements on the field etc. mental distractions on the other hand are embedded in your unconsciousness. These factors can be in terms of your anxiety, personal problems and other psychological issues. You need to have effective strategy for counteracting these distractions as being exposed to them for a long time, makes you more vulnerable and weak.

Avoiding distractions:

To avoid distractions, you need to have a clear focus and a set target in your mind. Compensations with the target should be avoided at all costs, since your motivational factors get negatively affected. You should also avoid changing your game plans frequently. New challenges in your new plans offer a wide opening for future distractions. For example, changes in your practice hours can be distracting. You should try and prepare yourself both physically and mentally before a game. These preparations should be done in advance whether you intend to play in a tournament or not. Mental distractions can be quiet difficult to overcome. However, by carefully analyzing the sources and controlling your thought processes, this is easily possible. Meditation, relaxation and thought stopping techniques are especially useful for this purpose. You need to prepare yourself for any challenging situation on the field. This helps you to avoid physical distractions. Players also get frequently distracted because of their opponent’s game. However, you need to concentrate more on your own play and compete with yourself rather than against the opponent. Control of the senses, is yet another way in which you can prevent paying attention to the multitude of sounds, sights and smells. Try and focus on the ball, your stance, club and the target, everything else is achieved. You need to control your distractions with determination and use of effective techniques. This is the only way of avoiding distractions and improving your game.
